Her Sacred Fires is a mosaic of perspectives, providing us with the insights of men and women from all six of the inhabited continents. Together these provide us with a unique 21st century image of the Torchbearing Goddess of the Crossroads. Amongst them are modern Mystics, Philosophers, Magicians, Root Workers, Theurgists, Sorcerors, Enchanters, Witches, Wiccans, Druids, Thelemites and a multitude of other traditions and practices. They are the Torchbearers of Hekate today.

Amber Rose (Australia)
Amber Rose is a Conjure woman of the Vieux Carré /Tsalagi Medicine- Hoodoo with a spicy blend of Vodou & Cherokee Wolf Medicine. She resides in Australia and writes for the Occult Magazine Opus Magus. She feels that Hekate is highly recognized as the Patroness of the Crossroads; and rightfully treated so within the Hoodoo tradition and paid homage to at the ‘Y’ shaped crossroads whereas Hermes represents the ‘X. She is also synchronized in Vodou/Voodoo with the Blessed Virgin Mary as a Catholic representation. Amber states that in all words of veneration, Hekate has touched her life in such a profound and multifaceted way from the blossoming rose of a child to that which she is today. Amelia Ounsted (England, UK)
Amelia Ounsted is a Wiccan High Priestess running an Alexandrian lineage Coven in the London area. She is a priestess of Hekate and previously contributed to the anthologies Hekate: Keys to the Crossroads and Priestesses Pythonesses Sibyls, having a particular passion for oracular work. She lives in fear that Hekate will demand an exclusivity contract and considers commitment to a Goddess more terrifying than marriage or the M25 motorway on a Friday evening.
Andrea Salgado-Reyes (Chile and Spain)
Andrea Salgado Reyes is a Chilean witch and Orixá devotee, blessed by being a daughter of Yemanyá and of Ogún. She has established Comunidad Paganus, a neo-pagan and pagan community in Chile, on a hill within sight of the sea. Her main interests are Wicca, Candomblé and traditional Latin American witchcraft. Brian Andrews (England, UK)
Brian Andrews is an artist based in South London. He studied design at Croydon Art College and later studied illustration in Hereford. Returning to London he found and was initiated into an Alexandrian Coven that worked with Hekate. Since then Hekate has become a major influence on his work. He contributed an essay and artwork to the anthology Hekate: Keys to the Crossroads, and his artwork features in Artemis: Virgin Goddess of the Sun & Moon, The Guises of the Morrigan, and Heka. Brian is currently bemused by the relationship between mental illness and magick but thinks it’s probably part of growing up and being British.
Catamara Rosarium (U.S.A.)
Catamara Rosarium is an Alchemist, Master Herbalist, and Ritual Artist. She has been a student and practitioner of various Western and Eastern traditions over the past 13 years. Her current studies and practicum include Spagyrics, Wortcunning, Qabalistic Symbolism, Alchemy and Cunning Craft Sorcery. Connia Silver is a writer and educator who has taught a wide range of intuitive skills and Goddess mysteries. Connia lives with her husband and companion animals in the Sonoran Desert, where they put into practice organic and sustainable living whenever possible. David Rankine (Wales, UK)
David Rankine is an occultist, author, and esoteric scholar who has been studying magic since the 1970s. Dorn Simon-Sinnott is a Pagan Witch with eclectic leanings; incorporating Ancient Witchcraft Traditions, with Druidry, Shamanism, Inca, and the Occult Sciences. Ekaterina Ilieva (Bulgaria)
Ekaterina Ilieva (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) is a Priestess and co-founder of the Threskeia – a pagan tradition based on ancient Thracian beliefs. Emily Carding (Cornwall, UK)
Emily Carding is a self-taught artist and author, best known for her Tarot work. Her creations include the groundbreaking Transparent Tarot, the Tarot of the Sidhe, and the Transparent Oracle, a seventy card transparent deck based on the seven directions, which forms circular mandalas when cards are layered. Georgi Mishev (Bulgaria)
Georgi Mishev (Plovdiv, Bulgaria) is a Priest and co-founder of the Threskeia, a pagan tradition based on the beliefs of ancient Thrace. Blessed by being a member of family of healers and trained in folk traditional magic, Georgi is a Bachelor in German and Russian language and has a Master’s degree in the field of Preservation of cultural heritage. Hansa (India and England, UK)
Hansa is a devotee of Hekate and Kali, who spends her year divided between London, England and Kulgachia, India. She was born and raised in India until she was ten, when her parents sent her to live with family in the UK to continue her education there. She works in fashion, and enjoys the freedom to travel this brings her. She feels happiest when she is performing rituals, whether these are Hindu pujas or Wiccan circles, which she sees as both expressing part of the same greater power, that of Sakti, the great goddess.
Henrik Holmdahl (Sweden)
Henrik is a jack of all trades, eclectic witch and a mystic of various traditions. He considers himself a servant of Hekate, who has the most prominent role in his life, and acts as his mentor. Jade Sol Luna (U.S.A.)
Hecate devotee and Astrologer, Jade Sol Luna is the first Westerner ever to reconstruct Jyotish (Hindu astrology) into a Greco-Roman format. Jade has travelled to India more than 30 times and spent a great deal of time with various teachers, Saints and Sadhu’s in Asia. He was tutored by Bhau Kalchuri (disciple of Meher Baba) and Kal Babji (Khajuraho, India) in advanced mysticism and classical Indian lore during and after his formal Astrological training. Jean Marie Feddercke (England, UK)
Jean Marie Feddercke is Momma White Cougar, Priestess of Hekate, Sekhmet and Elen, Devotee of Lord Ganesha. She is the author of The Shaman’s Drum which is her personal journey through poetry and prose. Jen Ricci (England, UK)
Solitary Witch Jen is based in South London where she typically shares her house with a black cat and two children – hers. She has a background in Reiki healing, complementary therapies and this led her to experience distance healing, opening her mind to the concepts of ‘energy’ and ‘intention’, which in turn led her to the use of Witchcraft, spells and subsequently paganism as a way of life. Her first encounter with Hekate began long before her current journey and since meeting the Goddess she describes her path as being filled with a lot more clarity. John Canard (England, UK)
Root magician John Canard misspent most of his youth in the Cambridgeshire fens, where he met the woman of his dreams, who he still believes to be only part human, and subsequently moved with her to Somerset (UK) to live the wild life. They live on a small farm where John spends his time tending a menagerie of animals and growing organic produce. He has always enjoyed writing, with his first book, Defences Against the Witches’ Craft being published in 2008, and has previously contributed essays to Hekate: Keys to the Crossroads, Horns of Power and From A Drop of Water. He is currently working on a number of other projects related to traditional magick, witchcraft and root cunning.
Katherine Sutherland (England, UK)
Katherine Sutherland is an occult scholar and practitioner with wide ranging interests. Also a poet and author of fiction, Katherine is currently working on a children’s novel focused on a character not dissimilar to Dr John Dee. Her poetic re-working of the Persephone myth, entitled Underworld is now available. Katherine is a Priestess in the Fellowship of Isis, and a devotee of the flowing spiritual path that her gods have chosen for her. Kay Gillard (England, UK)
Kay is a healer, teacher and writer based in south-east London, UK, running courses and retreats in Kent and Wiltshire. She specialises in combining Reiki, shamanism, sound healing and psychic work to help healers and teachers find their own style and confidence, as well as building personal healing programmes for clients to change physical, emotional and behavioural issues. Lezley Forster lives in Devon with her wonderful husband, where she can indulge her passion for walking the moors and the woods. Madre Van der Merwe (South Africa)
Madre is a Hekate priestess who lives on the Wine Route in Cape Town, SA. She loves good wine and it was this that brought her to Hekate, as her work with Bacchus and Dionysos led her to their connection and intrigued her enough to engage her interest. Whilst she is aware that some people see all goddesses as being one, she feels that Hekate is a very unique and powerful goddess who has taken over her life and demands frequent offerings of fynbos on top of Table Mountain.
Magin Rose (England, UK)
Magin Rose is a writer, illustrator, priestess, runic practitioner and Wiccan. She has a particular fondness for the Greek and Norse traditions. She loves making things, knocking things down and day dreaming. She lives in London with Mr Magin and their three cats who all do their best to keep her feet on the ground. Mark Alan Smith (Spain)
Mark Alan Smith is a practitioner of Traditional Witchcraft and Hecate devotee. An ex-professional soldier, Mark now lives with his family in Southern Spain where he dedicates everyday of his life to the attainment of the lost and fragmented gnosis of the ancient magickal craft of the Dark Goddess. Michael Ellis (Germany)
Micheal Ellis lives in Germany with his partner and their three large black dogs. His magical journey began, as for so many people, during his teens when he developed an interest in Witchcraft and the work of Aleister Crowley. He became immersed in the mysteries of Hekate after attending a ceremony facilitated by Sorita d’Este in 2003, and soon after became a devotee. He threatened to leave us with a sequence of numbers to decipher, but instead concludes that numbers and mathematics are important in magic and should not be ignored!
Morgana (The Netherlands)
Morgana is a Gardnerian Wiccan High Priestess, who was born in Britain but has lived in the Netherlands since 1974. She is the International Coordinator for the Pagan Federation, an international Pagan organisation. PFI is an affiliated organisation of the Pagan Federation, a British organisation founded in 1971. In 2005 it became a Foundation – Stichting PFI, registered in the Hague. She has facilitated a variety of Gardnerian Wiccan groups over the years. Morgana is the co-editor of the international bilingual magazine Wiccan Rede, which was founded in 1980, and the co-ordinator of Silver Circle, a Wiccan network in the Netherlands. Naza Cogo (Australia)
Naza Cogo was born into a culture of traditional Balkan witchcraft. She is a Priestess of Hekate whose life journey since birth was one which prepared her to walk the path of this goddess, to whom she is extremely devoted. She teaches healing and divination, and has a great passion for the Greek and Egyptian mysteries, as well as Tarot, herbal magick and healing. She has a wonderful husband, Arnel, another Hekate devotee, and four children whom she has raised as part of their magickal world. She is currently studying herbal medicine to aid her further in her service of Hekate, and sees herself as a daughter of the goddess, a wife and a mother. Nikki Cullen (U.S.A.)
Nikki Cullen is a 32 year old mother of three beautiful children who was born in Queens, New York. With a Catholic father and Pagan mother her religious upbringing favoured her mother, who practised the old Celtic tradition of the Goddess craft and taught her how to deal with her ability to see and hear things other children could not. Her first meditation was at age 7 in Forest Park in Queens, and as a child she was taught about the medicinal use of herbs, the moon and her phases, the Sabbats and esbats, the power of intent and words. Adulthood brought different occult and goddess teachings to her earlier Celtic roots, and she has since moved her learning to what might be seen as a darker place.
Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule (Australia and The World)
Orryelle Defenestrate-Bascule is a globe-trotting barehoof ChAOrder Magickian. Director of Australian-based Metamorphic Ritual Theatre Co. and creator of The Book of Kaos Tarot, he finds Art– whether music, theatre, drawing, sculpture, film, writing or… -effective media for earthing hir sorcery. Current projects are the Tela Quadrivium fourfold bookweb being progressively published by Fulgur Limited (Conjunctio 2008, Coagula 2010…) and a related Alchemical theatre tour of Europe in collaboration with an Austrian glass-blower. Paul Harry Barron (Wales, UK)
Paul Harry Barron has been interested in holistic healing from a very early age, and for many years from the mid 1990’s he was the chairperson of a charity promoting holistic living. He works as an Acupuncturist with a practice split between the heart of Wales and Birmingham. In addition to his work within the field of healing and charity, he is also the translator of magical grimoires, including the French manuscripts which form the core of the highly acclaimed Veritable Key of Solomon, A Collection of Magical Secrets (both by Skinner & Rankine) and The Book of Gold. Petra Schollem (Mexico)
Petra Schollem is a mother, wife and psychic from northern England who now lives in Mexico City with her husband and four children. She loves the Tarot and learning more about the world around her. This includes Hekate, the Aztec gods, Mexican food and culture. With Hekate’s aid she helps guide the souls of the departed on to where they should be, a responsibility she takes very seriously and which she find very rewarding, though often bittersweet.
Raven Digitalis (U.S.A.)
Raven Digitalis (Montana, USA) is the author of Planetary Spells & Rituals, Shadow Magick Compendium, and Goth Craft, all on Llewellyn. He is a Neopagan Priest and co-founder of the “disciplined eclectic” shadow magick tradition and training coven Opus Aima Obscuræ, and is a radio and club DJ of Gothic and industrial music. Also trained in Georgian Witchcraft and Buddhist philosophy, Raven has been a Witch since 1999 and a Priest since 2003, and an Empath all of his life. Richard A. Derks (U.S.A.)
Richard Derks is a Druid of the revival tradition. He is an Ovate with the Order of Bards, Ovates, and Druids (OBOD) and a member of Ancient Order of Druids in America (AODA). His main spiritual interest is in the Gods of ancient Greece and Britain. He gave his oath to serve Hekate on January 15th, 2010, and has patron relationships with Cernunnos and Dionysos as well. He also worships many of the other Gods of Greece, Egypt, and Britain all merged into a syncretic personal practice that he is constantly struggling to figure out and make sense of. Shani Oates (England, UK)
Shani Oates lives in Derbyshire (UK) where she is a devoted practitioner of the true art, a mystic, a pilgrim, artist, professional photographer and holistic therapist. She is also a life-long student and researcher of theology, philosophy and anthropology intrinsic to all praxes that engage the Mysteries proper. Shay Skepevski (Australia)
Shay Skepevski has been a practicing solitary Witch and devotee of the goddess Hekate for over twelve years. From an early age he was aware of his psychic abilities as a clairvoyant, and his interest in magick and love of nature led him to discover paganism and witchcraft. She is a Priestess, Enchantress and Theurgist, her personal practices are focused on bringing tradition and history in line with progression. Soror Basilisk (Australia)
As a child, Soror Basilisk was aware of spirits and other energies but it was not until she was in her 20s that she developed an interest in parapsychology and Spiritualism, studying and contributing to groups of both disciplines. At 25, she studied with a UK Qabalistic Order and she commenced professional psychic/Tarot readings, later joining a magickal order in Australia and developing an interest in mediumship. During her 30s, Soror Basilisk joined a Chaos Magick temple in Australia, assisted in the formation of 2 magickal groups. Tara Sanchez (England, UK)
Tara began to experience the magick of Hekate in 2004 whilst studying for her OBOD Bardic grade, and after a few years of generally trying to stick her fingers in her ears and go “la la la I’m not listening” under the guidance of her then mentor she formalised the relationship in 2007. Things have never been quite the same since. She has given a few talks and written one or two articles and has even been known to run the odd workshop, normally when she is tricked into it by erstwhile friends and other meddling do-gooders. She lives in the North West of England with her husband, daughter and an ever growing collection of cats, some of which she has adopted and some that have adopted her. She has been many things in her life, an apprentice, a student, an electronics engineer, a salesman, a computer scientist and a teacher to name but a few, her titles include, wife, mummy, priestess, miss, friend and she is even occasionally known to respond to ‘Oi you’. Thomas Starr (Canada and Japan)
Renegade Solomonic magician Thomas Star escaped from the turmoil of lodges and old magical orders in the 1980s to find a fresh beginning in Toronto, Canada. Dissatisfied with his experiences of Western magic, he returned to the roots and found Hekate waiting there. He has been working with Her ever since, focusing his efforts on learning from her angels using the skills he learned from the works of Agrippa to good advantage. He now spends all his spare time talking to angels in the wilds or riding horses, his other enduring passion.
Tim Furlow (U.S.A.)
Tim Furlow is a thirty year old full time graphic design student, who has been an actively practicing Pagan since he was thirteen years old, and a devotee of the Goddess Hekate for more than a decade. He has a very active relationship with Hekate, and credits her with all of the blessings in his life, including his ever inquisitive son Anthony, whom he considers the greatest gift She has ever bestowed upon him. He is engaged to be married to his soul mate Meghan, another Hekate devotee, and they hope to open a Pagan wellness and education centre in the future. Tina Georgitsis is a hereditary folk witch and an initiated Wiccan priestess who is deeply respectful of the ancient Egyptian and Greek spiritual paths. She runs the Lyceum of Heka within the Fellowship of Isis as Priestess Hierophant, and is a Master Mason within Co-Masonry. She operates a spiritually based business which includes readings, healings, magical items and workshops in various metaphysical and occult modalities whilst also working in the corporate world.
Tinnekke Bebout (U.S.A.)
Tinnekke Bebout is a Dianic Witch and Priestess, who has been on her Path for 30 years. She is one of the co-founders of the Michiana Pagan Alliance and is also a co-founder of The Lake Area Goddesses Society and The Mystai of the Moon Dianic Tradition. She is a Mentor Sister of the Mystai and teaches women in a Lunar Mystery tradition that has been recreating the Rites of Hekate for a modern era. Trystn M. Branwynn (U.S.A.)
Trystn M Branwynn was born in 1967 in St. Louis, MO. He has served in the United States Marine Corps and travelled extensively in the service. He received admission to a Traditional Witchcraft group in 1987, and achieved his Second Admission in 2000 and currently serves as Magister for his branch of the current. He also currently serves as Education Chair for the Tacoma Earth Religions Revival Association. He is father to a son Kyle, and a daughter Gabrielle, both of whom live in Ohio. Trystn currently resides in Lakewood, WA with his significant other, Damais, and their two pet rabbits, (The Great) Peony Bunny and Mr. Zen Z. Bunzl.
Vikki Bramshaw (England, UK)
Vikki Bramshaw is an author and priestess of esoteric initiatory witchcraft. Having trained for 10 years under respected elders, she now runs her own working group near the New Forest in Hampshire. She released her first book, Craft of the Wise: A Practical Guide with O-Books (John Hunt Publishing) in 2009. Some of her passions are theurgy, initiatory rites and Hellenic and Sumerian mythology. In addition to her magical training, Vikki successfully completed several courses as part of her ongoing research, including The Origins of Human Behaviour, with Oxford University and is also a trained Holistic Healer with the Scottish Healing Association. Yuri Robbers (The Netherlands)
Yuri Robbers currently lives in Leiderdorp, the Netherlands. He works as a teacher, scientist and author. It is a rare subject that he doesn’t take at least a passing interest in. Since last summer he can officially say that he has spent more than half his lifespan deeply involved in the Western Esoteric Tradition, sometimes as a teacher, and always as a student. His main hope is that he will never stop being first and foremost a student, always learning and experiencing new things. Hekate may not always have been the main influence in his spiritual life, but she has never been wholly absent either, and she has been there since the beginning. She may even turn out to be that which is attained at the end of desire! Surely one could do worse…
